It is a Pazzo Party!

I recently celebrated a birthday. Mrs. Barbarian arranged a dinner at a local steak place, a chain who sends you a coupon for a free dinner on your birthday. (Have I ever mentioned how frugal Mrs. Barbarian is?) I choose a filet, which they smother in bleu cheese and garlic, along with a twice-baked potato. Mrs. Barbarian selects a New York Strip. Looking for something powerful on the meager wine list I select this Napa blend called “Pazzo.”

It not only stands up to the big food, it is truly wonderful. It is a bit pricey, but as it is from Napa, perhaps it is a bargain at around $30 retail.

How fun for me to see your blog about our wine, Pazzo. Yes, as you mentioned, this is all Napa Valley fruit, but I thought I should tell you more. Pazzo is a proprietary blend created by Claus Janzen. The wine is predominated by Sangiovese and although the blend is not a set formula you will always find the Sangiovese to be partnered with Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Sirah, occasionally a bit of Merlot, and a touch of Viognier. We do believe it is a fantastic wine for the price and are happy to know that you found it on your birthday, the production is not huge at 4000 cases a year, but large enough that we have a strong domestic and international following.
In what city/restaurant were you dining? For any of your friends who are interested you can learn more about the wine at, and if you like Pazzo you will adore our flagship blend.

    Thanks for commenting!

Sorry I didn’t respond sooner, I’ve been having problems with my email and did not get a notification that you had posted.

Thanks too for the details concerning the blend. By the way I liked it so much I ordered it again at another dinner a week or so later.
